Austin, Texas

Oak Forest RV Resort - Austin, TX | 2/15/22 - 2/20/22

We chose to visit Austin, as it is often noted as one of the up-and-coming cities in the US. We stayed at a nice park in town so that we could easily get around to see things. Oak Forest RV Resort is located within the Village Farm Tiny Home community. There were many stylish tiny homes for rent and for purchase. This park was extremely clean and peaceful, and since we were conveniently located right across from the laundry room, we took advantage of the large machines to wash our bulky bedding and rugs. In Austin we wanted to give Texas BBQ another shot, so we found a place that Guy Fieri had visited - SLAB BBQ. It had started as a food truck but is now in a storefront with an urban vibe, but Mike did not care for the food (although Mary’s brisket sandwich was pretty good, and surprisingly Mike’s green beans were the best thing there). We decided that we’re not fond of smoked food, so the BBQ wasn’t working for us. Guy, you let us down. We did have a really good lunch at Salt Traders Coastal Cooking - a seafood place in Austin. We always love seafood!

We visited the Zilker Botanical Garden, which was really neat even though most things were not in bloom. It was nice to be out in the sunshine. We also found the Umlauf Sculpture Garden & Museum which was interesting.
