Our Journey Across the Country

Palm Springs RV Resort | 1/10/22 - 1/13/22

Starting across the Mohave Desert towards Arizona, we stopped at Palm Springs RV Resort in Palm Desert, CA. This is also a Thousand Trails Park. We had never been to Palm Springs before and the temperatures were quite mild in January about 75 degrees at 3:00 pm every day. Mike did however talk with a resident who said that it gets up to 120 to 125 degrees in the summer! This RV Park actually closes for 6 months out of the year because of that. I cannot fathom any reason to want to live in that kind of heat! - but people do I guess…

This park has over 400 RV sites over about 20 rows/streets. As Mary walked down our “street”, she noticed a couple sitting outside their rig, and a small banner out at the front of their space with their last name and hometown of Sutter CA! We did not know each other but they live down the street from Andy’s house. They come to the desert every winter to escape the gloomy weather in Sutter. As I passed back by a few minutes later, I hear their next-door RV neighbor saying that he was from Woodland CA! What are the odds! We’ve found these large RV parks to be quite sociable, perhaps because they tend to be full of long-term (retired) RVers rather than families on vacation, and the close quarters lead to more interaction. In general , seem to be friendly and more courteous of their neighbors than in the campgrounds.
